PREPARING STUDENTS FOR SUCCESS IN A CHANGING WORLD

Introduction


Includes three years of Pre-Med and Basic Sciences at the Aruba Campus followed by Clinical Rotations in the United States.

The remainder of the Five year Program is the same as the Four Year MD Degree Program.

Clinical Clerkship

Introduction


Nucleus University School of Medicine maintains a very high standard in students receiving their clinical training. We have affiliations with multiple Hospitals in the USA. All of our clinical clerkships are conducted in ACGME accredited Hospitals for their respective specialty. Upon completion of their clinical clerkships, students secure residencies in various specialties at renowned medical facilities as they advance toward a successful medical career.

Clinical Clerkship (MINIMUM 72 – 80 WEEKS)


END OF THE SECOND YEAR

The second year of medical school ends with the Introduction to Clinical Medicine Program. The Clinical Clerkship program begins in the third year. In the first two years of medical school students focus on basic knowledge of health and disease and are introduced to the care of individuals and populations.

THE THIRD AND FOURTH YEARS

In the third and fourth years, students become directly involved in the care and study of patients. They begin towork with team members caring for hospitalized patients. Third year students rotate through the following clerkships: twelve week rotations in Internal Medicine and Surgery; six-week rotations in Pediatrics, Psychiatry, Obstetrics and Gynecology.

END OF THE FOURTH YEAR

The 4th year consists of 30 weeks of electives. Introducing the student to the various fields of medicine and enhancing both their clinical and diagnostic skills, the Clerkship Program is designed to ease the transition between Basic Sciences and Postgraduate training. As the student transitions from pre-clinical to clinical studies, the essential role of physician is realized in the practical application of their knowledge and skills.

CORE ROTATIONS

  • Twelve weeks of Internal Medicine
  • Twelve weeks of General Surgery
  • Six weeks of Obstetrics and Gynecology
  • Six weeks of Pediatrics
  • Six weeks of Psychiatry
  • Six weeks of Family Practice
ELECTIVES

24 -30 weeks (Any field of choice)

TRANSFER STUDENTS

Transfer students from accredited and ECFMG recognized medical schools are welcome to apply for clinical clerkship with Nucleus University School of Medicine. The University requires that all students who wish to pursue their clinical clerkship with NUSOM must have passed USMLE Step 1 Exam. Presently, rotations are conducted in Washington D.C and Maryland (ACGME Accredited Hospitals).

SUBMITTALS

  1. Official Transcripts of previous universities attended and certification of the successful completion of Basics Sciences from all Medical Schools attended.
  2. USMLE Step 1 Results (Required)
  3. Application Fee – 100 USD
  4. Tuition Fees must be paid one month prior to commencement of the program.
  5. Two letters of recommendation
INDEMNITY/MALPRACTICE INSURANCE

All students are responsible for obtaining malpractice insurance prior to the commencement of their clinical clerkships. Nucleus University School of Medicine staff will assist students with information concerning insurance companies that provide this service.

Please note that the cost of malpractice insurance is not included in the tuition fees. The cost usually is approximately US$ 1000 to 1200 per year.
